Lt. Brian Harrison began his career at the Charlotte County Sheriff’ Office
in 1991 after serving three years as a U.S. Army Military Police Officer and one year with the Florida Department of Corrections. He was assigned to Road Patrol within the Port
Charlotte area. He became a Detective assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit in the Port Charlotte area in 1993. He became a School Resource Officer in 1994 assigned to
several elementary schools in the community. In 1995 Lt. Harrison was assigned as the Career Criminal /SAO Liaison Detective for the agency where he was responsible for identifying
and assisting prosecutors with Habitual Offenders at trial.
Lt. Harrison was promoted to Corporal in 1996 and assigned to supervise Road Patrol within the Englewood area. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2000. In 2001 Lt.
Harrison was transferred to supervise the Criminal Investigation Unit in the Punta Gorda area and also assigned as the Region VI Domestic Security Task Force Investigator with the
Florida Department of Law Enforcement office in Ft. Myers. In March of 2002 Lt. Harrison was assigned as a Training Sergeant and agency Fitness Coordinator where he was responsible
for the agencies High Liability and In-Service training.
Lt. Harrison was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2007 and assigned to the Bureau of Law Enforcement as a Watch Commander. There he oversees the daily operations
of the Sheriff’s Office.
Lt. Harrison has served as a Special Weapons and Tactics operator since 1994 and a team leader of S.W.A.T. since 1996. He is currently the Assistant Commander of
S.W.A.T. He was a member of the Honor Guard Unit for fourteen years and the team leader of the unit for six of those years.
Lt. Brian Harrison is known as “coach” by many of our community juveniles after coaching youth football and baseball for several years. He is married and has three children.
