Del Sherman was born in Michigan City, Indiana, and raised in the small town of New Buffalo
alongside Lake Michigan. In 1982 Del met Beverly and two years later they were married. Shortly thereafter, Del and his wife moved to Three Oaks, Michigan.
Del’s first employer was a small Michigan construction company that specialized in masonry work and more specifically, custom fireplaces. After spending
time in the construction field Del changed track and took a job with a Michigan business that repaired farm equipment. This change of employment eventually resulted in a move
to South Bend, Indiana not far from Notre Dame. In 1988 Del changed careers a third time and took a job with an electronics firm. After a year of employment Del accepted
a transfer to Florida and, as a result, moved to Charlotte County. In 1989 Del left his employment with the electronics firm and started his own electronics business.
After two years of being self-employed Del made his fourth and, to-date, final, career change by taking a job with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office
as a Data Processing Assistant. In 1995 he was promoted to Director of Information and Technology. Under Del’s leadership the CCSO became one of the first sheriff’s offices
in the nation to utilize laptops in patrol cars. Additionally Del saw the agency through a migration from a proprietary mainframe computer system to desktop computers
and Microsoft Windows servers.
In addition to twenty plus years of experience in the industry of information and technology, Del has a degree in Computer Science along with a certification
as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Del holds certifications with the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) in Project Management as well as an A+ and
Network+ IT Technician certification. Del also has certifications as a CIW Professional, CIW v5 Associate and CIW v5 Database Design Specialist.
