Emma Dennison joined the Sheriff’s Office in June 1990 as the agency's first Human
Resources Director. She focuses on the strategic side of Human Resources and works along side the Commanders, Supervisors and Employees providing guidance, support and advice across
the whole spectrum of the HR arena. During her career, Emma has been involved in all areas of human resources, ranging from policy, planning, recruitment and performance, benefits,
and compensation to union negotiations, health & safety, and employment law.
Prior to June 1990, she spent six years as a US Military Officer in Personnel Management positions
Emma holds a M.S.E. in Guidance and Counseling and B.S.E. in Distributive Education with a Minor in Psychology from Central Missouri State University. She also holds
the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) conferred by the National Society of Human Resource Management.
Emma is a member of the National Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), and a founding member and past president of the Charlotte County Society of Human Resource
Management (CCSHRM). She is an active volunteer on the Charlotte County YMCA Board and has also served on Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Explorer boards.
