Lt. Donna D. Ogden began her career at the Charlotte County Sheriff’s
Office in 1987, as an assistant in the Criminal Investigations and Major Crimes divisions. In 1990, she was assigned as a Juvenile Detective, and handled cases involving
juvenile crimes and issues, missing persons cases, child sexual crimes investigation, child abuse investigations and working with parents of troubled or delinquent children.
Lt. Ogden was promoted to the rank of corporal in 2000 in the Juvenile Operations Unit and became a first-line supervisor to the school resource officers and the
gang detective. During that time, she helped bring the school resources officers under one area of supervision instead of each being in the districts where the schools were located.
In 2003, Lt. Ogden was promoted to the rank of sergeant and was in charge of the entire Juvenile Operations Unit, including school resource officers, SHOCAP/Gang detective,
Truancy and Police Athletic League operations. Also at that time, she supervised the Community Policing corporal, three Community Policing officers and the school crossing guards.
In 2004, the Juvenile Operations Unit merged with the Community Policing Unit, and she became involved with supervising the juvenile side of the unit, and assisting with
the Community Policing units, including Explorers and Reserves.
After a lengthy career in the field of Juvenile Operations, Lt. Ogden was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2007, and assigned to the Bureau of Law Enforcement
as a Watch Commander. There she oversees the daily operations of the road patrol divisions throughout Charlotte County, and makes command decisions for events that take place that
need further investigation, such as major burglaries, unattended deaths, armed robberies, homicides and other major events.
Lt. Ogden is married to Cpl. Bruce Ogden, also with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, and between them, they have seven grown children.
