Captain Donna Hensley Roguska began her career with the Sheriff’s Office in January 1986. She received the Outstanding Scholastic Award in her academy class.
After graduation, she was assigned to the School Resource Division working in the elementary and middle school settings. During school vacations, she worked in the patrol division and
also went to the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch camps and worked with the youth. She worked in this division until 1993 when she transferred to the Community Policing Section.
In 1994, Captain Roguska was promoted to Corporal in the District 4 area and assigned to the Zone 9 squad. In 1996, she was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to the
District 2 area and placed in command of Squad D. In September 2000, she was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned the District Commander’s position in District 2. In March 2002,
she was transferred into the Administration Division and placed in command of Communications and radio operations. She was also assigned to the Insurance committee by the Sheriff.
In 2004, her duties expanded to the fleet division. In March 2005, she was promoted to Captain and placed in command of the Logistics Division and is the Assistant Bureau Commander in
Administration. In late 2007 she took over command of the Professional Standards and Training Division.
Captain Roguska was born and raised in Charlotte County and graduated from Charlotte High School. She attended Edison Community College and then graduated from
Stetson University in 1983 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (management). In 1997, she graduated from Central Michigan University with a Master of Science
in Public Administration. Captain Roguska also completed the Command Officer’s Development Course through the Southern Police Institute, University of Louisville, in February 2004.
Captain Roguska is an instructor with the SW Florida Criminal Justice Academy and teaches Driving and Firearms on a regular basis. She has also been an adjunct
professor at Edison College and Florida Gulf Coast University.
Donna is married to Timothy (a retired police officer) and has one daughter, Zsachlayne.
