Intelligence Unit

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Intelligence Unit was reformed in January 2009 by Sheriff Bill Cameron. Its design is meant to foster a proactive response to crime via ongoing evaluation and dissemination of timely intelligence from a variety of sources. With fiscal responsibility in mind, the Sheriff and Major W.D. Libby have tasked the Intelligence Unit with analyzing crime data and directing specific and appropriate resources to problem areas within the County, thereby reducing a duplication of resource expenditures.

The Intelligence Unit is a multi-disciplined team comprised of crime analysts and investigators from diverse backgrounds. The investigators are focused on intelligence-related activities while carrying out their other assigned duties such as Sexual Predator and Offender Investigations, Pawnshop and Second-hand Dealer Investigations, Juvenile Intervention Investigations and Jail Intelligence Operations.
