The Sex Offender Intelligence Unit is assigned under the District Investigations Section. It is staffed by one full time law enforcement officer, who is responsible for gathering, disseminating and maintaining a wide variety of information used by members of the Sheriff's Office. While some of the information may be available to the public, much of the information is confidential information for law enforcement use only.

The Sex Offender Intelligence Officer is responsible for tracking all of the sexual offenders and sexual predators living within Charlotte County. He works with FDLE to make sure that the information in their Sexual Predator Database is as up to date as possible.
