Janet Hamilton began her career with Charlotte County Sheriffs Office in January 1992.
She started at the entry level in Communications answering administrative phones. Within two years she participated in a training certification class to assist in the development
of the Communications training program. With her certification she went on to train new employees through every aspect of Communications.
In 1995 she received the Member of the Year Award from Sheriff Richard Worch and shortly thereafter was promoted to the position of Communication Supervisor. Her duties
were to oversee the activities of squad members and ensure accurate handling of calls.
In 1998 she received additional responsibilities of Training Coordinator which included overseeing the program. With input from other Supervisors and Trainers she designed
communications training procedures. She implemented a weekly testing program for all divisional employees and provided input to her superiors concerning trainee deficiencies and failure to
meet minimal agency needs.
In 2000 she was promoted to 911 Coordinator. She is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the County’s 911system. During her tenure she helped deliver Phase I and II
of wireless calls. Current 911 technologies include delivering Voice Over Internet Protocol calls into the dispatch center.
During her career she has received Member of the Quarter, Member of the Year, and the Ruth Dennison Award from the Fire Department.
