Lt. Melissa Turney began her career at the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office in 1997, placing her application in as soon as she met the age requirements. Coming from a family with extensive Law Enforcement background, she immediately began to advance her education and experience in an effort to get promoted through the ranks quickly.

She is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s Command Officer Development course, and has numerous Instructor certifications for teaching Law Enforcement High Liability classes to new recruits and existing line officers. Lt. Turney is dual certified and holds an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, as well as a Bachelors of Applied Science in Public Safety Management.
