IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING E-MAIL ON NEW DRIVING LAWS IN FLORIDA EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2007 The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is aware that information is circulating, via e-mail, about new traffic laws effective August 1, 2007. The e-mail implies eight areas have law changes, including cell phone usage, carpool lanes, lane changes, driving on the shoulder, seatbelt usage, speeding and driving under the influence. Please disregard this e-mail and do not forward to others. The information contained in the e-mail is not correct. The current law changes have been placed in this release with effective dates. The Department encourages all motorists to drive safely, obey traffic laws and avoid distractions. The Department's summary of 2007 legislation pertaining to driving and motor vehicle laws is available on our website at www.hsmv.state.fl.us - click on “Laws” on the left hand side of the page.
