Employment Benefits

Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office recognizes that employee benefit programs are an important part of the total compensation package. We are committed to providing you with options to protect from catastrophic loss due to illness, injury or loss of life. CCSO employees also have the opportunity to build security for the future through our retirement programs. In addition to traditional employee benefits, CCSO employees enjoy working in a diverse environment which fosters personal and professional growth.

Insurance Plans — CCSO offers a variety of programs for employees to choose from, including medical, dental, vision, group term and supplemental life and accident insurance, short- and long-term disability programs. Some benefits, including the medical, dental, vision, Employee Assistance Program, group term life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance are paid for by CCSO. The cost of other programs may be covered by a combination of agency and employee pre-tax contributions.

Comprehensive Leave — Eligible employees accrue both vacation and sick leave each pay period. Depending on the type of leave this will provide you with paid time off for vacation, personal business and short-term illness. Accrual rates vary, based upon continuous years of service with the Agency.

Holidays —Most CCSO employees are eligible for eleven holidays during the year. CCSO traditionally observes the following eleven holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King Day
  • President’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veteran’s Day
  • Thanksgiving Day, and the day after
  • Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
Holidays may vary based on contractual requirements.

Education Assistance — CCSO recognizes its employees are vital resources whose talents are critical to the success of the company. We offer a Tuition Reimbursement Plan, which encourages self-improvement through formal education so that employees can improve or maintain job-related skills or enhance their ability to compete for reasonably attainable jobs within CCSO.

Retirement Plans — Agency-funded retirement benefits are offered to employees, through the Florida State Retirement program. Employees may need to satisfy certain service requirements to participants and receive credit for vesting in these plans.

Employees may also be eligible to defer a certain percentage of salary (subject to IRS limits) to a Tax Deferred product. Salary deferrals are self-directed by participants.

CCSO is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer
