To apply for an open position in a full time Law Enforcement, Corrections, Reserve or civilian position, please download the preliminary application (PDF). You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the files. This preliminary application can either be printed and fill out by hand, or it can be filled out on your computer using Acrobat Reader. If you fill out the form using Acrobat Reader, you will need to print your completed preliminary application before you close the program. It will not let you save the completed form. After the Sheriff’s Office has received your application, you may be scheduled to appear for an oral board. Candidates who successfully complete the oral board will be asked to complete the full application form.

To apply for a volunteer position such as Parking Enforcement, COPS, Explorers etc, please download and complete our volunteer application, using the same instructions as above. These positions do not require an oral board.

Please note that if you apply for a position that is not advertised below, your application will not be accepted.

Charlotte County Sheriff's Office utilizes volunteers in several areas of operation. This is a collective citizen's group with a true and common desire to volunteer their services, while learning more about the internal working of the Sheriff's Office

Parking Enforcement Volunteers
Volunteer Parking Enforcement. You will be trained to write parking tickets to those persons who park illegally in handicap parking spaces. You would be assigned under the supervision of the Community Policing Sergeant under the Community Policing Section. Must be 21 years of age and have a good driving record with a current FLorida Drivers License.
