Communications/Dispatch
Looking for "Experienced" 911 Operators. This is the journey level class in the Public Safety Dispatcher series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Calltaker level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED. License or Certificate: Must be able to pass and obtain basic FCIC/NCIC certification and EMD/CPR certification. Must display competence in the use of computers and have the ability to type on a computer keyboard at the rate of 40 correct words per minute. Prior to being considered for this position, all applicants will be required to submit to testing on Call Center (911 Operator), basic computer terminology, typing skills and Criticall to demonstrate computer competency. Must pass all phases of the Dispatch 1 and communications call taker training. Work consists of 12 hour shifts, rotating shifts, working holidays and weekends.

Reserve Deputy
We are currently accepting applications from Florida Certified Auxiliary (Volunteer) Officers. Duties include protecting the public and preserving the peace while volunteering in assisting with road patrol, community policing, traffic enforcement, Criminal and Special Investigations, Marine, K-9, Narcotics and SWAT. This position works in concert with a fully certified law enforcement officer. Must meet State standards - Section 943.13 Florida Statutes, paragraphs 1-7 and Charlotte County Sheriff's Office requirements. Must be at least 19 years of age. School Crossing Guards
Part-time, one hour in the early mornings and one hour in the afternoons during the school year directing and control pedestrians at a designated school crossing while children are going to and from school past such intersections. To be considered for these part-time positions the candidate: Must have graduated from high school or possess GED equivalence. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be psychologically fit to work with or around children. No criminal record or criminal history. Must be able to provide character references. We will provide all applicable training for this position. We will also provide an orange safety traffic vest, gloves, hat, whistle, stop paddle, to be used by the crossing guard while acting in the capacity of school crossing guard.
