Corrections Officer
We are recruiting Florida Certified Corrections Officers for open Correctional Officer positions at our county Jail. The work involves maintaining the security, health and welfare of inmates confined to the Sheriff's Office Jail. For position requirements read job description and print out pre-application. Must be State Standards 943.13, Florida Statutes, paragraphs 1-7 and Charlotte County Sheriff's Office requirements. Must be at least nineteen (19) years of age. Starting salary is $39,520. If you have prior Florida State Corrections experience within the last 5 years, you may be eligible to receive $1,000 per service year up to a maximum of $4,000 added to your base salary of $39,520. After completing two successful years at our agency you may qualify to take the COFC exam. E.O.E./ Drug Free Workplace/Smoke Free Workplace.

Law Enforcement Deputy
We are recruiting Certified Law Enforcement Officers. Duties include protecting the public and preserving the peace while serving in a variety of assignments within the Sheriff's Office. Responsible for carrying out assigned duties in the areas of road patrol, criminal and special investigations, traffic enforcement, community policing, and problem solving in assigned areas. Must meet State Standards -Section 943.13, Florida Statutes, paragraphs 1-7. and Charlotte County Sheriff Office requirements. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and must be Law Enforcement Certified, either in Florida or other pre-approved States. If Florida Certified, salary will be $39,520 on day of hire. If you have prior out-of-state certified experience in law enforcement of at least 2 years, you may qualify for an additional increase after successful completion of FTO. ($40,520) If you have Florida Certified experience in law enforcement, you may qualify to receive $1,000 per service year credit for up to a maximum of $4,000 added to your base starting salary of $39,520. After two years of successful Law Enforcement experience with our agency you may qualify to take the Deputy First Class promotional exam. E.O.E./ Drug Free Workplace/Smoke Free Workplace.

Public Safety Operator
PUBLIC SAFETY OPERATOR (Communications operator/dispatcher) Specialized position involving telephone, radio, teletype communications general public, mobile units, public safety/emergency service agencies. Responsible for dispatching, recording, relaying all messages via a radio network. Position involves shift assignments, clerical tasks, operation of communications equipment, local demographic knowledge. Reserve Deputy

Duties include protecting the public and preserving the peace while volunteering in assisting with road patrol, community policing, traffic enforcement, Criminal and Special Investigations, Marine, K-9, Narcotics and SWAT. This position works in concert with a fully certified law enforcement officer. School Crossing Guards
Work on a part-time, one hour in the early mornings and one hour in the afternoons during the school year directing and control pedestrians at a designated school crossing while children are going to and from school past such intersections. To be considered for these part-time positions the candidate: Must have graduated from high school or possess GED equivalence. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be psychologically fit to work with or around children. No criminal record or criminal history. Must be able to provide character references. We will provide all applicable training for this position. We will also provide an orange safety traffic vest, gloves, hat, whistle, stop paddle, to be used by the crossing guard while acting in the capacity of school crossing guard.
