Our Sheriff, John Davenport

John Davenport was elected Sheriff of Charlotte County November 2, 2004 and officially took Office on January 4, 2005. Sheriff Davenport is dual certified and has been a law enforcement officer in Charlotte County for 30 years.

In addition to progressing through his professional career, Sheriff Davenport continually worked on his formal education attaining an Associates degree in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. Sheriff Davenport is also a graduate of the F.B. I. National Academy.

Sheriff Davenport serves on numerous Boards and Committees throughout Charlotte County and the State of Florida. These include; the Charlotte Behavioral Health Care Center, the Charlotte County Cultural Center, the Law Enforcement Executive Development Association and is a Commissioner on the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission.
